Aktun Chen

We found this place on a whim--checking out a sign on the side of the highway.  It's a rough road back to it, but well worth the time (and worth the entrance fee that includes a guided tour).

Aktun Chen consists of several limestone caves with a lot of beautiful stalactite/stalagmite formations, plus an underwater pool (cenote) at the end.

Very pretty pool at the end.  The pictures don't do it justice.  When we first caught a glimpse of the pool, it looked like some kind of green fog, it was so clear.

A couple parrots hanging around.

A fawn just a few feet away (yes, its mother was right there too)

I don't remember the name of this creature, but it is a member of the coon family.
